June 18-20 2004 - Heluva Rukus, SASS  New York State Championship

706 Geyser Rd. (between Stone Church & Middle Line Roads), Ballston Spa, NY.

WANTED: Cowpunchers, cowgirls, desperados, gamblers, schoolmarms and sodbusters for

Cowboy Action Shooting with the Circle K Regulators at the Kayaderosseras Fish & Game Club.

Well, some of us cowboys from the "DFTF Rangers" went to the Heluva Rukus, and all those people above showed up! It was a great day - an exciting day!

Those cowboys worked hard over 3 days competing in 10 stages. The cowboys had written

instructions for each stage that they had to be familiar with. You will see, from the pictures

that they had a posse assisting them through the stage.

The shooters loaded their guns on a folding table set-up to left of stage and unloaded on another table to the right of the stage. All under very careful attentive supervision. This was a State Championship, had several stages, and required a posse of assistants.

The first group of pictures you will see is the Stage - "Cleanin Up the Town". Props are:

Horse, Stable, Bank, Saloon, Sheriff, Boarding House, and General Store. The cowboy

works his way through the town with a rifle, shotgun, and pistols. Targets are located on

the ground behind the props and cowboys move through the town firing at the bad guys

through open windows and doors.

The cowboy is the "newly arrived Sheriff" and he's "Cleaning up the Town!" Click on each

picture to enlarge it.

A Posse of Cowboys getting ready to shoot Stage 5 - "Way Station Woes". The stagecoach has just arrived and carrying a hefty payload. The stagecoach driver/cowboy, has to protect the money and some hostages from a band of robbers who have taken over the "Way Station." The targets are beyond the stagecoach and the building. More pictures below about this stage.
